Contrary to what you hear from the pulpit, we are not all God's children.
Yes, God created everything..."The Lord hath made all things for himself; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil" (Proverbs 16:4)
Regardless of color or gender, you do not "choose" to be a child of God; you are either a child of God...or you're not.
Jesus clarifies it in the parable of the sower when he states that the sower sows "good" seed, but tares (weeds) are sown by the devil. Wheat does not become tares, and tares do not become wheat. Same with goats and sheep; sheep do not turn into goats...and goats, try as they might cannot become sheep. One does not become the other.
I realize this may offend some people, but it is meant to shed light on perhaps the most important verses in Scripture; "Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
(John 3:3) And, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God"
(John 3:5)
Forget the religious rhetoric and endless genealogies you hear in church...all the "cutesy" Bible stories and lessons in "goodness" you hear in Sunday School...unless or until you are reborn Spiritually, nothing else matters. It is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that separates God's kids from everyone else.
