I remember my Dad saying, "Money doesn't grow on trees"...advice typically given when I asked for money.
Obviously, he meant that we have to work to buy stuff.
In our "Something for nothing" society, that bit of wisdom isn't necessarily true today; but what is true is what the Bible says, "Riches profit not in the day of wrath." To wit, you can't "eat" money.
Whether its gold, silver or paper, it doesn't matter how deep you plant, or how often you water and fertilize, it won't produce edible "fruit."
"I can buy stuff," you say. True, but having all the money in the world won't matter when there's no "food" available.
When you compare just the number of people in your immediate area with the amount of "food" on the grocery store shelves, it's easy to see that in an extended emergency, the shelves will be wiped out fairly quickly.
There are over 47,000 people in my zip code. Okay, I know they don't all live in my neighborhood; but the last time I looked, there was about 12 heads of cabbage at the local grocery store...even if there was ten times that amount or even a hundred times that amount, it's not a lot of cabbage for 47,000 people. And that's just one zip code.
Maybe you're one of the lucky ones who gets to the store first...maybe not.
Here Is Wisdom:
"It's better to be prepared for that which does not come, than unprepared for that which does."
God told me to get ready for difficult times, so I'm storing food and water. Maybe you don't believe difficult times are coming. Or, maybe you don't believe it will happen to you...perhaps; but I can't imagine a more horrible sound than the men, women and children scratching and clawing at the door of Noah's ark, can you?
When the day of God's wrath comes; when the famine, pestilence, earthquakes, etc. prophesied in scripture begin to wreak havoc on the earth, your money won't save you.
Ready or not, difficult times are coming.
Remember, Noah wasn't immune from the ravages of the flood; he was warned.
