A New Beginning

Ray Evans • March 2, 2020
There is a lot of confusion surrounding the term "Born Again."

What is it?  What does it mean?

The short answer, it's a new beginning...all your past sins are forgiven and God gives you the opportunity to live a changed life.  In essence, God wipes your "sin" slate clean.

A lot of preachers say everyone who believes in Jesus is "born again," but its not true; churches are filled with "believers" whose lives haven't changed.

Belief and baptism are separate events; even devils believe in God (James 2:19)  And, Jesus said, "Not everyone that saith to me Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 7:21)

The Bible says, "As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)  The word "power" is "Exousia," it means "privilege."  When you accept Jesus, you are given the opportunity to "become" a son (or daughter) of God.  It's a privilege...that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Just because you "believe" in God, doesn't mean you have been reborn Spiritually (born again).  Spiritual birth, like natural birth, is an experience.

Your experience may be different, but the result is the same...your thinking changes.  You will have an insatiable hunger and thirst for God and his word...and an innate desire to please him.

If this doesn't describe your life, you haven't been reborn Spiritually and I urge you to get down on your knees, repent of your sins, and pray as I prayed over thirty years ago, "God, if you're real, I want to know."

Do Not Be Deceived: You may be religious, go to church, tithe, even call yourself a "Christian;" but unless your thinking has changed; unless obedience to God is the priority of your life, you have not been "born again."

Before I was illuminated I rarely thought about God...afterward, I could stop thinking about him.

It is truly a new beginning...a chance to start over; more than that, it is the opportunity to know, without a doubt, God is real.

Until you are reborn Spiritually, until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth
By Ray Evans May 9, 2020
Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
