Dying To Self

Ray Evans • January 7, 2020
Be it ever so humble...

There are so many scriptures denouncing "pride."

If you didn't know, God hates pride...and, truth be told, the prideful will not inherit the kingdom and (dare I say it) will be destroyed in the second coming.

Remember what Jesus said, "the meek will inherit the earth."

Dying to self is perhaps the hardest thing anyone can do, especially in our modern "grab all you can," "something for nothing," me first, me too, society.

It's really hard to "turn the other cheek;" but God never said it would be easy, just that it would be worth it.

You can live your life man's way or God's way; but you can't have it both ways.

You must choose one way or the other.

Obviously you can get riches and honor either way, but God looks at the heart, not the pocketbook.

God doesn't care if you're rich; it's how you live your life, that matters.

The "Golden Rule" is a good philosophy to live by (note: the Golden Rule is not "He who has the gold, makes the rules").  However, try treating others better than yourself; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the results.

However, until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
