The Money Changers

Ray Evans • February 21, 2020
I'm sure there are local churches, ministries and Pastors with good hearts who contribute to the local community.

It's the media ministries that chap my drawers.

Listening to their programs, it's very apparent, they're not interested in saving souls, their interest is the soul's savings.  Every "show" begins and ends with asking for donations; and the latest iteration, "We have a donor who will match double or triple your donation," makes my stomach turn.

It seems every program has a "secret" donor who will match their donation up to a million (or more) dollars...secret?  It's just a marketing ploy to extract more dollars from the listeners.

Make no mistake, "religion" is big business...U.S. estimates show the value of the "faith" sector to be $1.2 Trillion (that's trillion, with a "T") dollars.

Am I saying you shouldn't tithe?  No, I'm saying be careful whom you choose to follow.

I have yet to hear any mega media preacher say, "Ye must be born again."  Or, "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness..."  At least not with the importance these scriptures demand...did you know that unless you are reborn Spiritually, you cannot see or enter the kingdom of God?  Salvation is not a change in the way you act, it's a change in the way you think.  Has your thinking changed?  Do you have a hunger and thirst for God and his word?  Do you have an insatiable desire to please God?  Remember, just because everyone believes something is true, doesn't make it truth.

All they do is tickle the ears to fill the pews and collection plate.  To hear ads on "Christian" radio that tell people they don't have to repay their debts is,  sacrilegious. "The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again..." (Psalms 37:21)

Is there any truth in what they preach?  Of course, there's always a kernel of truth...but remember what the Bible says,  "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."  (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)

They'll have to answer to God for misleading people; but don't you be misled.

For every kernel of truth they utter, there's a bushel of myths, lies and misconceptions leading you astray.

The only way to know the truth is to be reborn Spiritually.

Until you are born again; until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth
By Ray Evans May 9, 2020
Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom
By Ray Evans May 7, 2020
This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
