What Is Sin?

Ray Evans • January 30, 2020
Paul said, "There is none righteous, no not one." (Romans 3:10).  Another religious sound-bite taken out of context.  Paul was speaking of "unbelievers."

Those who are "born-again" cannot sin without being convicted of sin...and quickly repent.  They are not sinless, but they do sin less...knowing, the wages of sin is death.

Sin is not evil, it's unrighteousness.  It's choosing to do wrong.  Everyone knows right from wrong.  When you choose to do wrong, you do so willingly; thus, it is sin.

To wit, smoking and drinking are not sins.  They may not be good for you (expedient), and may cause you to sin, but they are not sins.

There is no "commandment" to stop smoking and drinking...although wisdom dictates you should, for better health.

You won't go to hell for smoking or drinking (although you may get there quicker by doing them if that's where you're headed anyway).  Bad habits have bad consequences.

Jesus made it clear, "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man" (Matthew 15:11)

Sin doesn't condemn you to hell.  It's not acknowledging, confessing and repenting of your sins that separates you from God.

If that's what you want, just keep sinning.

Eat, drink and be merry (Ecclesiastes 8:15), because until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
