And When You Pray...

Ray Evans • January 14, 2020
Prayer is one of the more confusing doctrines in the Bible.

A lot of preachers say that when you pray there are three possible outcomes...Yes, No and Not Yet.  Sounds like the perfect politically correct answer.

They fail to mention that not every prayer or should I say pray-er is heard by God.

What?  God doesn't answer prayers?

James says, "Ye ask amiss, that you may consume it on your lusts"  (James 4:3) In other words, you're just "asking" for things.  Give me money, give me health, give me...gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.

Our view of God has changed...we want a God who serves us, not a God we serve.  One who would never hurt anyone, especially us.

Well, God hasn't changed...he's the same yesterday, today and forever.  He is Holy.  As long as you see God as your Spiritual ATM, you're going to have problems.

Here's what you need to be aware of...God does not hear the prayers of sinners (John 9:31)  So, if you are unrepentant of any sin, God's not listening, so no matter what you ask, it's not being answered.  However, God hears all prayers of repentance.

First, confess your sin, then pray as Jesus prayed, "Thy will, not my will, be done," I mean, you do want God's will in your life, right?

Until you know, without a doubt, God is real...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth
By Ray Evans May 9, 2020
Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom
By Ray Evans May 7, 2020
This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
