Don't Be Foolish

Ray Evans • February 17, 2020
I get so tired of hearing preachers talking about the "end of the world," the rapture of the church, and a new life in heaven...as if  "heaven" was the end-all, be-all of life.

Do Not Be Deceived:  Difficult times are coming and you need to prepare for them; but the world is not ending, there is no rapture, and heaven is not what you think.

I'm not a "scoffer."  The Bible says there's a thousand years of peace on earth before Jesus returns.  It's foolish to look for Jesus coming on a white horse to take all the good people to heaven.  It's not happening...at least not for a thousand years.

Our glorious hope is not "heaven."  If you think "heaven" is your final reward, you have missed the whole point.  It was never God's plan for his children to live, die, and go to heaven.  If that were true, what's the point of life on earth?  God's plan was and is for us to live an abundant life on earth...now and forever.  Note: There's a new world coming.

Sorry to disappoint; but there are no streets of gold, no mansions, no partying with loved ones, and no sitting on a cloud with a harp waiting for you in "heaven."   When you die, you enter into God's rest...you're just going to sleep until judgement.

At judgement you will receive eternal life or eternal damnation based on how you lived your life.  No one knows what God has prepared for those who love him (1 Corinthians 2:9) so it's foolish to focus on the afterlife...it's this life that matters.

You see, how you live your life today...determines your eternal destination.

Of course, until you're reborn Spiritually...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
