Hating Evil

Ray Evans • Jan 02, 2020
One of the upsides (or maybe downsides) to being reborn Spiritually is having a keen sense of right and wrong...an innate ability to discern good from evil.

At birth, God places his laws into our hearts and minds...everyone knows right from wrong; but until you are reborn Spiritually, the line between them is a little blurry.

When you're "born-again," the line becomes clear; and you will no longer have the option of calling wrong, right or right, wrong.

I used to get angry at speeders.  Liars, cheats, thieves, murderers, lawbreakers in general made my blood boil...like Jonah, I wanted to see them "slain like sheep."

You might be thinking, "That's not very "Christian."

The Bible says, "The fear of the Lord is to hate evil" (Proverbs 8:13).  Scripture is clear...to love God is to hate evil.  If you don't hate evil, you might have to question whether the love of God is in you.

Nevertheless, Psalms 37 says not to fret because of evildoers or be envious of sinners...the day is coming when the wicked, evil and unrepentant will be "cut-off."

Given the amount and influence of evil in the world, walking in obedience to God and his ways is not easy...but God never said it would be easy; just that it would be worth it.

When you're reborn Spiritually, you will have a hunger and thirst for God and his word.  Pleasing God will the priority of your life.  Lying, cheating, stealing, etc., will be anathema to you.  If it's not, you haven't been born again.

Sorry, but too many preachers give too many Christians a pass on sin.  There are no passes.  Sin is sin and the wages of sin is death.  (Romans 6:23)

Living a sinful lifestyle is not the way please God.  If you're reborn Spiritually, you won't live a sinful lifestyle, so it follows, if you're living a sinful lifestyle, you haven't been reborn Spiritually.

Is it important?

Here is Wisdom: Until you're reborn Spiritually...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth
By Ray Evans 09 May, 2020
Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom
By Ray Evans 07 May, 2020
This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans 06 May, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
