Pray, As If Your Life Depended On It

Ray Evans • January 17, 2020
Why did Paul say, "Pray without ceasing?"  Are we to continually be on our knees in prayer?  Are we supposed to be like Monks or enter a Convent?

Not exactly; if you read the next sentence in that passage it reads, "In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

Paul was telling us to be constantly in a state of prayer, thanking God for everything; for the same reason God said to keep his laws as front-lets between our eyes; talk about them when we rise up and lay down; put them on the door posts and bind them on our hands...so we would never forget.

It's easy to "forget" God and his ways...especially today; but it's hard to forget if we are constantly thanking him for everything...not that he doesn't deserve it.  When you understand that every thing belongs to God, thanking him is a no-brainer.

When you are "born-again," you won't need a reminder to thank God  You will have a hunger and thirst for his Word and an innate desire to please him.  Telling you to remember God and pray without ceasing will be the last thing I need to do.

However, if you're not thanking God for everything...you must question whether the love of God is in you.  If the love of God is not in you, you may be physically alive, but you are Spiritually dead.  God can breathe life into your spirit...if you will just ask him.

Until you are reborn Spiritually...nothing else matters.

Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth

Believing in the "Rapture" relieves you of the responsibility to do anything except believe in Jesus...who will magically whisk you away to heaven. It's a lie, designed to keep you from preparing or being prepared for what's coming.
Job 32:9 Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

A lot of well-known and well-respected preachers talk about how long they have been preaching, as if the longer one preaches the more qualified one is to preach.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom

This may seem a strange question, but it never ceases to amaze me how few people allow God to play an active role in their daily lives. Why anyone would not want the creator of the universe to help them every second, every minute and every hour of every day, is simply beyond me.
Psalms 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?
By Ray Evans May 6, 2020
The question in Psalms 15, "Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?" probably has as many answers as there are preachers, but they all stem from a common belief: "Everyone who believes in Jesus goes to heaven." Sounds great, but is it true?
